Drainage Disposal System Improvements — Alton Road

The Drainage Disposal System Improvements on Alton Road project exemplifies David Mancini & Sons, Inc. (DMSI)’s ability to deliver large-scale urban stormwater infrastructure within one of South Florida’s most congested and flood-prone corridors. Spanning multiple key intersections — 5th Street, 10th Street, and 14th Street — this complex project was designed to improve flood mitigation, enhance stormwater flow, and increase the long-term resilience of Miami Beach’s critical drainage systems.

The scope of work included the installation of approximately 15,200 linear feet of drainage piping ranging from 12-inch to 60-inch diameter, along with 40 new inlets and 113 manholes. New outfall pipes were constructed to connect with structures S-498 and S-499 along the Dade Boulevard Canal, significantly increasing system capacity.

The project also involved connections to existing infrastructure, cleaning and video inspection, decommissioning of obsolete drainage lines, removal of unsuitable materials, and the furnishing of suitable backfill and subgrade materials. Extensive dewatering operations, shoring, and temporary sheet pile installations ensured stability and safety throughout all excavation phases.

At the heart of the project were three newly constructed stormwater pump stations, each equipped with 20,000 GPM axial flow pumps, concrete wet wells, discharge piping, valves, and custom control systems — engineered to sustain high-volume storm events and protect surrounding neighborhoods from tidal and rainfall flooding.

The objectives are to streamline processes, maximize resource utilization, and deliver measurable outcomes that create long-term value. By leveraging our technical skills, proven experience, and commitment to excellence, we aim to not only meet but exceed expectations. Communication and transparency will remain at the core of the project, fostering trust and alignment at every step.

Ultimately, this project represents an opportunity to showcase our capabilities while building a foundation for sustained success and future growth.

This project reinforces DMSI’s leadership in stormwater management and flood mitigation construction across South Florida. Through technical precision, environmental stewardship, and proactive coordination, DMSI successfully enhanced Miami Beach’s drainage network — delivering safer, more reliable infrastructure that will protect the community for decades to come.
